An outbreak of tornadoes in Oklahoma has left at least four people dead as the threat of severe storms persists across a region stretching from Missouri to Texas.
The storms, which struck Tuesday evening, brought chaos and destruction to several communities, with Sulphur, Oklahoma, particularly hard hit. According to local authorities, multiple tornadoes touched the area, causing extensive damage and claiming lives.
It seems like every business downtown has been destroyed now here in Sulphur,
stated Mayor Randy Meeks, underscoring the scale of the devastation wrought by the tornado outbreak.
Emergency alerts were issued throughout the region, warning residents to seek shelter immediately. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued urgent messages highlighting the imminent danger posed by a particularly severe tornado near Sulphur:
A large and extremely dangerous tornado was located south of Sulphur, moving north at 35 mph. First responders need to prepare for additional tornado impacts immediately!!!
In addition to the loss of life, numerous homes and businesses sustained significant damage, with reports of roofs torn off, structures collapsed, and debris strewn across the affected areas.
